A History

Boy Scout Troop 78 -  Nanuet, NY

Troop 78 was chartered on May 1, 1982 under the sponsorship of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Nanuet, NY.   The first Scoutmaster was Gerard Bogin who served until 1985.  Kevin Kilb was the first Senior Patrol Leader serving from 1982 to 1983.  Kevin Kilb’s father, Karl, was the first Committee Chairman.  Troop 78 has always been active in High Adventure and has sent representatives to National Jamborees, World Jamborees and Philmont.  Since its beginning, 38 scouts from Troop 78 have earned scouting’s highest award, the rank of Eagle.  Over the years, Troop 78 has been one of the most active units in Rockland County.  It can be proud of it’s accomplishments and looks forward to even greater ones in the future.
